Brief History of Video Poker

In 1970, video poker was introduced to the gambling world. The Poker-Matic video poker machine was built by Dale Electronics. They were used in luxury Vegas casinos. Then in 1979, IGT, known as SIRCOMA at that time, brought out the Draw Poker machine which became very popular. As technology improved so did the video poker games and many new variations of the game were released.

With the introduction of online video poker, the game reached a new level in quality and payouts. The web has allowed many players, from countries that don't even have land-based casinos, to play. In 1994, Microgaming casino software built the first online casino software and has since released many versions of video poker
